PFO Chromatic Dispersion Measurement System
The PFO CD500 is an industry standard product for measurement of CD and PMD offering unparalleled speed of measurement and compact design.
For Chromatic Dispersion (CD), the CD500 uses the patented double demodulation technique to directly measure chromatic dispersion of optical fibers. The innovative approach offered by the CD500 provides advantages in both fiber production and research environments.
For Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), the CD500 uses the Fixed Analyzer wavelength scanning method, enabling measurement of PMD values down to 0.005ps.
The functionality of the included 'PEcon' software allows for automatic and sequential testing of all parameters with a single connection of the sample and a single button press.
The PFO CD500SW (Short Wavelength Chromatic Dispersion), based on the same technology used in the standard CD500 system, is a measurement option that widens the measurement spectrum to include the 850nm and 1060nm regions. It covers dispersion testing from 830nm right up to 1650nm all in one box.
The CD500L (Tunable Laser based CD and PMD, External Laser) option brings the ultra-high power and narrow spectral output of a tunable Laser to the CD500, enabling measurement of fibers and components that require such characteristics. The CD500L measures both passive and active fiber links, with measurement through multiple amplifiers being a standard feature.
The CD500SA (Spectral Attenuation, External Detector)) option utilizes the ultra-stable and programmable LED sources and the low noise DSP technology in the CD500 to enable very accurate and repeatable attenuation measurements on both very short and very long fibers and cables, something that alternative systems are unable to do.
The CD500SM (Spectral Loss Monitoring) option offers a low noise low drift spectral-power measurement facility with in-built referencing to enable long term spectral attenuation change measurements for applications such as Hydrogen aging. This option is also available as a stand-alone system SM500.
